1. Meetings for the year, identifying Required Program:

August 31, 2011, 11am
Officers, Sarah Pruett (president), Michelle Cleveland (vice president), Sierra Kattietidt (secretary), Jessica Watts (treasurer), and Amanda Boling (editor) met to plan for the fall semester.

September 25, 2012
Ten members (Jessica Watts, Christy Laughlin, Sierra Kattentidt, Hayley Golsan, Sarah Daws, Meg Gustafson, Michelle Cleveland, Amanda Boling, Alexis Gregg, Sarah Pruett) met to discuss and finalize plans for a fall 2012 service project. It was decided that the group would put 3 boxes around campus and flyers to let people know they would be collecting donations of children’s clothing for the Palmer Home.

October 17, 2012, 7pm
Initiation ceremony. Dr. Ryan Akers, Assistant Extension Professor, Emergency Management Programming was the key note speaker. Nine students were initiated.

October 24, 2012, 6pm
Eleven KONu students (Jessica Watts, McKenzie Woods, Julianne Mounce, Robyn Thomas, Maritta Rondeau, Jessica Murphree, Claire Johnson, Sierra Kattentidt, Amanda Boling, Alexis Gregg, Sarah Pruett) met in room 75 of Lloyd Ricks Watson to decorate boxes to place around campus for the Palmer Home clothing drive. The boxes were placed in Lloyd Ricks Watson, the Student Union, and the Library. The following items were collected: 2 long-sleeve shirts, 7 shorts-sleeve shirts, 4 pair jeans, 1 pair sweatpants, 5 pair pajama pants, 1 rain jacket, 4 hoodie jackets, 3 nice blouses, 6 sweaters, 2 little boy hoodies, 1 pair of mittens, 2 hats, 2 scarves, 1 blazer jacket, 2 nice pea coats, 1 pajama shorts (boys).

December 4, 2012, 5pm
A holiday party was held in the Cardwell Conference Room, Lloyd Ricks Watson. About 40 students from Kappa Omicron Nu, HDFS Option Club, Fashion Focus, and Collegiate FFA attended. Holiday goodies were shared and students and faculty socialized. Items and money were donated for a local family that had been displaced by a fire during the holiday season.

January 16, 2013, 5:30pm
Met with the officers to introduce myself as the new faculty adviser and discuss electing new officers and events for the semester. Sarah Pruett was away for an internship and was unable to serve as president. Michelle Cleveland volunteered to serve as the president. The following are the current officers: Michelle Cleveland (president), Sierra Kattietidt (vice president), and Jessica Watts (public relations). Amanda Boling graduated in December and was no longer able to serve as editor.

February 4, 2013, 5:00pm
KONu members met to discuss the details for the initiation ceremony and preliminary plans for the service project in April. Students discussed the possibility of doing a professional etiquette program for adolescents living in a group home setting at the Sally Kate Winters Center or working in the afterschool program for children at the Palmer home.


March 4, 2013, 6:00pm
The KONu initiation ceremony was held. Jasmine Murray, Miss. Mississippi State University, was the keynote speaker. Nine students were initiated.

March 20, 2013, 5:00pm
Eight KONu members met to elect new officers for next year and finalize plans for the service project. The new officers are the following: Allison Sheffield (President), Jessica Watts (Vice President), Hannah Reynolds (Secretary), McKenzie Woods (Treasurer), and Mary Ashcraft (Public Relations). Members decided that they wanted to work with residents at the Palmer for the service project in April.

April 12, 2013, 3:00pm
Four KONu members visited the Palmer Home to assist in their after school program. We assisted in organizing donated items and engaged in developmentally appropriate activities with the residents.

May 1, 2013, 6:00pm
A dinner was held in honor of graduating KONu members at the Veranda Restaurant in Starkville, MS. Honor cords were given to graduating seniors.

3. Tentative plans for next year

KONu members would like to utilize Apparel Textiles and Merchandising students' expertise to hold a fashion show for disadvantaged teens at the Sally Kate Winters Family Services Center. The teens will participate in the fashion show by wearing professional clothing to demonstrate proper attire for a job interview. Members will discuss professional etiquette.
